Why Single Sex?

Remove-Art-Pupil-1.jpgWe put girls first by design, and aim to give each one the confidence and competence to fulfil her potential today, and for the rest of her life.

The benefits of a single-sex education for girls have been demonstrated in important new research published by the Institute of Education at the University of London in 2006.

This revealed that girls in single-sex schools were more likely to study subjects they enjoyed and were good at, rather than allowing gender stereotypes to influence them.   As a result, they were more likely to enter areas of employment typically dominated by men. They also tended to earn more!

This conclusion is reflected at St George's in the rich variety of courses chosen by our leavers and by the careers of our former students.
